Private wellness area with a TAO TRUST Finnish sauna and an IMAGINOX stainless steel plunge pool

The TAO TRUST sauna cabin has external dimensions of 216 × 238 × 194.5 cm. The interior of the sauna consists of horizontally laid hemlock panels, which give the space a clean and timeless character. In this case, the external panelling is not visible and consists of Durelis boards. The sauna can thus subsequently be naturally integrated into the overall architectural concept of the wellness centre.

Inside, there are two-tier TRUST benches made from Abachi wood, arranged in parallel. The upper bench is 60 cm wide and the lower one 51.9 cm. Comfort whilst using the sauna is enhanced by a backrest and a headrest. Access to the cabin is via a recessed glazed door 80 cm wide, made of 8 mm thick clear glass.

Heating is provided by a freestanding EOS BIO CUBO stove with an output of 9 kW, featuring the Sanarium system. The sauna is controlled via an EOS EmoStyle H control panel. Air is supplied from beneath the door, whilst the specific arrangement for air extraction was left to be further specified in the supporting documentation.

Lighting is also an important part of the sauna’s atmosphere. In addition to the TRUST wooden wall light, the cabin is fitted with a white LED starry sky featuring 80 light points. It is precisely these lighting details that help transform the sauna from a purely functional space into a place designed for peaceful and prolonged relaxation. The fittings also include a sauna set comprising an hourglass, a thermometer, a wooden bucket, a ladle and an aroma set.

Adjacent to the sauna area is an IMAGINOX stainless steel cooling pool with internal dimensions of 1.40 × 1.00 × 1.20 m. Its self-supporting structure is welded on site. The walls are made from 2.5 mm thick grade 1.4404 stainless steel sheet, whilst the base consists of 2 mm thick sheet of the same grade. Both the walls and the base are insulated with XPS panels.

The pool floor has a non-slip textured surface with circular studs. Easy access is provided by straight internal steps 100 cm wide with three steps, the treads of which also have a textured finish. Water circulation is ensured by a drainage slot in the wall measuring 30 × 4 cm. Fresh water is supplied through a single bottom circulation jet, and drainage is provided by a single bottom drain.

The water exchange technology makes it possible to control filling and draining on the basis of a signal from the Loxone system. The expected water temperature in the cooling pool ranges between 6 and 12 °C.

Well-designed lighting also has its place by the pool. A single Wibre RGB LED spotlight, 130 mm in diameter, has been installed; it highlights the character of the stainless steel surface whilst visually linking the cooling area with the atmosphere of the sauna.

The combination of the TAO TRUST Finnish sauna and the IMAGINOX stainless steel plunge pool has made it possible to create a fully-fledged private sauna area even within a relatively compact space. The design focused not only on the functionality of the individual elements, but also on the materials used, the use of light, comfortable access to the pool and the ability to integrate both products into the interior architecture.

The result is a private wellness facility whose individual parts flow naturally into one another – from an intense warm-up in a Finnish sauna with a Hemlock interior to a subsequent cool-down in an IMAGINOX stainless steel pool.
